Ope! From the rural cornfields of DeKalb County, Linze is an Illinois native and true Midwestern gal who can make a mean bonfire and whip up a perfect marshmallow salad. Since 2014, her bylines and photography have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Sun-Times, and Block Club Chicago/DNAinfo Chicago, Only in Your State, and more. She has interviewed Dolly Parton, written about beloved diners along historic Route 66, visited the last Rainforest Cafe in the Illinois, and reviewed luxurious English manor-inspired hotels. Whether it's writing about a local gem or world-renowned establishment, Linze brings a heartwarming and historical perspective to each story, using facts, wit, and personal experience to impress upon readers the importance of culture, food, travel, and all things local. Her favorite destinations in Illinois include Starved Rock State Park, Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, the charming small town of Sycamore, and historic Rosehill Cemetery. When she's not writing or photographing, Linze enjoys gardening, spending time with her husband and pets, cooking, baking, and grilling, and relaxing with trashy TV.
For a state filled with small towns, there is a surprising amount of great shopping in Illinois. Especially when it comes to antiques, there are plenty of local boutiques and markets that serve as treasure troves of vintage gems. Sometimes, I love to just look up what markets are going on and take a short day trip to explore the grounds. So when I discovered this country flea market in Morris, Illinois that had not only great antiques, but also fantastic food, flowers, and more, I immediately added it to my bucket list.
Let’s take a look!
The 3 French Hens Country Market is located just over an hour away southwest of Chicago in the small town of Morris in Grundy County.
Located in a parking lot just off Liberty Street, the market is open once a month from May through October, and reopens in November as a holiday market inside a local business.
I love earrings from markets like this because they're always unique — it's one thing you won't find someone else wearing!

One thing that sets this market apart from the others is its above-par food scene, with everything from artisan coffees, hot sauces, craft honey, and mouthwatering baked goods...
Don't forget to pick up a fresh bouquet of flowers or a brand-new plant before leaving! There are several vendors who specialize in gorgeous greenhouse finds.
