Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Fort Harrison State Park is one of the nicest state parks in Indiana, with plenty to offer just about everyone who loves the great outdoors. It’s home to countless top-rated hiking trails, all of which have much to offer those of us who can’t get enough. Let’s take a moment and get a closer look at one such trail, which is actually a fun combination of all the best bits of two trails. We’ve covered the Fall Creek Trail before, but now, let’s look at its counterpart: the Camp Creek and Fall Creek Trail Loop, which doubles as a contender for the best hike for wildflowers in Indiana, too.
The Camp Creek and Fall Creek Loop is an easy, 2.6-mile trek that features all the greatest highlights from two of Fort Harrison State Park's best hikes.
While it's open all year 'round (and every season has its pros and cons), I suspect my favorite time of year might be wildflower season, which varies depending on which flowers you may or may not be looking for.

Lovers of the most traditional time of year for flowers will want to come out in spring - especially mid to late spring - when it seems like everything is alight with color thanks to the plethora of foliage.
Seriously, isn't there something just so fairy tale-esque about a blooming lily pad? All we need is a frog prince to perch upon one. Well, or princess. Either-or, we're not here to judge.
The loop is just over two and a half miles long, and thankfully, it's gentle, with an elevation gain of just 131 feet.
You'll want to wear good shoes, be sure to pack water, and check trail conditions before you go to make sure there are no closures or other problems. It's always a good plan to be prepared!
...and by the time spring and summer are past and autumn has crept in, the trail takes on a whole new kind of mystical magic you simply have to see to believe.
