I am a nature lover and self-proclaimed foodie wrapped in one package. In my previous life, I was an Accountant, but numbers were boring and writing is the only thing that fuels my soul. So, I write because it's my freedom...it brings me joy. When I'm not writing dope articles for OnlyInYourState, I am writing and editing articles for my online blog on Medium.com. Or, when I get the chance, I am off on a trip with my family chasing waterfalls, or simply exploring the great outdoors. My mantra is to always find the best part of every day and bask in it.
If you live in Indiana, chances are, you’ve been to Turkey Run State Park or perhaps Indiana Dunes State Park. And while those parks are amazing, offering incredible recreational opportunities, at times, you want a sanctuary where you can get away from it all. Luckily, there’s a remote state park in Indiana that’s the perfect place to find peace and quiet. Featuring a gorgeous lake, miles of hiking trails, a seasonal pool, campsites, and more, Versailles State Park is the ultimate destination for an escape. Come with me to explore this secluded state park, where you can fully submerge in nature.
Are you ready for a peaceful escape? If so, then I've got the perfect destination for you.
Constructed in 1885, this timeless relic spans across Laughery Creek located on the edge of the park. Be sure to check out the Busching Bridge Trail that takes you through the path of the bridge.
With miles of multi-purpose hiking trails, you can bike or hike through the wooded area and completely submerse yourself in nature.
You'll be delighted to know that there are 20 miles of trails, which means you'll have plenty to explore.
Of course, during warmer months, the swimming pool is a big hit with all the visitors. Both kids and adults will love splashing, sliding, and playing in the water.
As the crown jewel of the park, Versailles Lake is an oasis for water recreation. Bring your kayak, canoe, or non-motorized boat and spend the day peacefully drifting on the vast 230-acre haven.
Plus, you can also rent these water vessels at the park. Anglers will love the bass, bluegill, catfish, as well as other small game fish that can be caught on the lake.

If that weren't enough, there is a dam as well as a scenic overlook, which is great for watching the local wildlife in the area.
