The Village of East Davenport is one of the state’s oldest neighborhoods still – a historic district filled with housing and businesses. The village was founded in 1851 and played a key role as a location for army camps during the Civil War. You can still see many of those old-fashioned buildings standing today – they built things to last back then! However, visiting East Davenport today is a fascinating mix of old and new.

But this area was home to some key Union army camps during the Civil War in the 1860s. You can still see a plaque dedicated to those brave men at the park.
