Davenport is a beautiful city, one of Iowa’s most stunning. Like many of the Hawkeye State’s Mississippi River towns, it’s an amazing place to visit, engage in water activities, and enjoy some great dining and shopping. However, many people don’t know that the most historic neighborhood in Iowa is located right here in Davenport! The Village of East Davenport is one of the state’s oldest neighborhoods still – a historic district filled with housing and businesses. The village was founded in 1851 and played a key role as a location for army camps during the Civil War. You can still see many of those old-fashioned buildings standing today – they built things to last back then! However, visiting East Davenport today is a fascinating mix of old and new.
