Restaurant connoisseurs know that it’s not always the biggest, flashiest eateries that have the tastiest meals – in fact, when I’m traveling to a new town, I often find that it’s the most unassuming-looking places that end up being the most delectable. Most of the western half of Kansas is pretty unassuming; this portion of the state is made up almost entirely of small towns that are barely blips on the map. There’s a lot of farmland out here, and not too much in the way of showy, colorful corporate franchises, but that’s the way we like it – so next time you’re out near Jetmore, a city of 770 that’s the county seat of Hodgeman County, check out little Judy’s Cafe downtown. This small restaurant in Jetmore, Kansas doesn’t look like much, but it’s incredibly delicious and it’s easy to see why it’s such a highlight in this small town.
