Our Bluegrass State is awash with mouthwatering barbecue jointsand bourbon distilleries, however, we’re making a name for ourselves with some fine restaurants that aren’t just in the big cities. Our small towns are home to some of the best food in the state. Bell House Restaurant in Shelbyville, Kentucky, is a real hidden gem that we simply have to share with you.
Bell House Restaurant was originally a house that was built in 1902 and has a mid-1800s bell out front which inspired the name of this charming Shelbyville restaurant.
The historic bell was made by William Kaye & Co. in Louisville during the 1800s and was the fire bell for the city. It sat in the town square on top of the firehouse and now is rung every day in front of this restaurant to call diners to some exquisite food.
The interior is sheer, quaint, rustic country charm everywhere you look and is the perfect setting for a Sunday brunch, a lovely afternoon tea party, or a scrumptious meal.
While there are some fresh and delicious salads on hand to start with, why not treat yourself to these luscious deviled eggs and a refreshing grilled lemon and bourbon lemonade?
Come here for breakfast and have one of the sizzling quiches or breakfast casseroles which are absolutely to die for. The Eggs Benedict is also something special.
Bell House is known for its succulent Black Angus Choice Plus Quality prime rib and ribeye steaks in your choice of size with a horseradish sauce that is made in-house and there’s an Au Jus made from the drippings. Yum!
This place is just as loved for its seafood. You can get flavorful scallops as an appetizer or buttery and tantalizing lobster that melts in your mouth. Sea bass and salmon dishes are on offer as well.
The menu is vast and varied, but whatever you order, make sure to leave a little room for some delectable desserts like Chocolate Amaretto Cake, Petite Praline Cheesecake, or a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup! Is your mouth watering yet?
