While Kentucky has no shortage of gorgeous places like Cumberland Falls, Red River Gorge, and Land Between the Lakes, sometimes you want to get out into nature at a place that is less well-known and, subsequently, less crowded. Bad Branch State Nature Preserve is one such place; it’s a stunning nature preserve in Kentucky that is surprisingly lush and thoroughly beautiful, with a delightful 60-foot waterfall and stupendous overlooks that will take your breath away. It’s the perfect place to escape from everyone and everything and simply soak in nature’s beauty.
Bad Branch State Nature Preserve is located near Eolia in Kentucky and has several trails to choose from, all of which include some breathtaking scenery and are a great way to escape from the rest of the world.
You’ll find little creeks throughout the preserve which are a great place to sit and just listen to the water. Your cares and worries will ebb away. Why pay for a spa treatment when you can just come here for free and feel completely refreshed?
Some areas of this preserve are so lush and green that it looks more like a jungle than a forest. This place has some of the most uncommon and rare species of plants and animals in the state.
The trails here are moderate and pretty well-defined, with bridges and signs to help you along. It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll encounter anyone else here, so you can always stop to take a moment on the bridge and watch the water rushing beneath you.
There is a wide variety of gorgeous scenery, from the lush trails to breathtaking vistas like this one, where you can see the 2,829 acres of this amazing preserve stretch out before you.
What an amazing waterfall! The verdant forest, mossy rocks, and rushing water are such a gorgeous escape. Imagine having this all to yourself for several hours and how soothing that would feel.
