Catonsville has been around for over 200 years, having celebrated its bicentennial back in 2010, and the town has only grown more enchanting and attractive as the years have gone on. With a rich musical tradition, some interesting history, and tons of restaurants and boutiques to explore, a day spent in Catonsville, Maryland is sure to be both enriching and exciting. Gas up the car and grab your road trip essentials, because this charming town is worth a road trip from any corner of the state.
One particularly beautiful piece of architectural history in Catonsville is the gorgeous Salem Lutheran Church. This building was established in 1849, making it almost as old as the town itself!
Catonsville has often been referred to as “Music City, Maryland”, and as you drift along Main Street you’ll likely notice the beautiful and gigantic guitars adorning the side of Bill’s Music, a longstanding staple of the community.
During the summer and fall, Sundays are for the Catonsville Farmer’s Market! This beautiful mural points the way to the parking lot on Mellor Avenue, where the vendors and local farmers set up tents and sell produce, goods, and even local whiskeys.
Pat’s Porch is an old-time candy shop that makes delicious confectionary with a local spin - the Old Bay dark chocolate is about as Maryland as you can get.
