Any time I have ever moved to a new place, one of the first things I find is a spot I can call home for a few minutes first thing in the morning. My local coffee shop is comforting and inviting, even if they never get to know my order. But, of course, they always do. If you’re local to Montana, you probably have a place just like this in your own city or small town. There are plenty of great spots, but if you have the good fortune of passing through Conrad every day, you’re particularly lucky. According to the Golden Bean competition, this little town might just have the best coffee shop in Montana — and the world!
Folklore Coffee, located in Conrad, got its start in July 2014. But it was conceived long before that when owners Andy and Anna were living off the coast of East Africa.
Between the two of them, they had a love of coffee and baking. But they also had a desire to see the small community of Conrad thrive. Community growth has been incredibly important to them, but roasting the beans is also a huge part of what fuels their devotion.
In fact, it's so special to them that this small coffee shop in Montana recently found itself listed among one of the best roasters in the world in the annual the Golden Bean competition.
Over the years Folklore Coffee has brought home two bronze medals, one silver medal, and a few gold medals competing regionally in the competition. This qualified them for a spot in the Golden Bean World Series.
Competing in the filtered category, the coffee shop won third place against other roasters from all over the globe. But, don't worry, this is still the humble, local coffee shop you love.
But if you are local, you're lucky enough to have access to their food menu. We love the sandwiches, soups, and toasts. This turkey, cheddar, bacon, and spinach panini is just one delicious example.
Best of all, they offer a large selection of treats. From cookies and pies to eclairs and cakes, if you have a sweet tooth you won't leave disappointed.
Folklore Coffee is open year-round at various times throughout the week. To plan your visit to this beloved coffee shop in Montana, be sure to check out the Folklore Coffee website. You can also follow Folklore Coffee on Facebook. They can be reached at 406-450-2760. While their location in Conrad is great, you can also see them at their locations in Valier and Cut Bank.
