Water features are the best when out hiking. I find that walking alongside a brook, waterfall, or pond is one of the most soothing parts of being out in nature. Plus, I could listen to the sound of flowing water all day. You may have some interesting water features near you, but for the most impressive sights, you’ll need to take a trip to the mountains. For fans of New Hampshire waterfalls, one “giant” cascade is worth the visit from anywhere in the state.

The hike to the falls begins along Peabody Brook Trail on North Rd. in Shelburne. A 0.3-mile spur path leads to the falls, for a total one-way distance on 1.5 miles.
