Hey! I'm a freelance writer and guidebook author. I've authored "New Hampshire's 52 With A View - A Hiker's Guide", serve as editor of Appalachian Mountain Club's "Southern New Hampshire Trail Guide", and and am co-editor of the "White Mountain Guide", also for AMC. I'm currently beginning work on the 6th Edition of AMC's Southern New Hampshire Trail Guide, which will be published in 2025. I live in southern New Hampshire and can usually be found wandering throughout the state's mountains and forests.
As we see more and more each day, nature is a powerful but also very fragile thing. I see it every time I am out hiking. Ecosystems can survive some pretty harsh conditions, but can also be damaged and potentially wiped out by external forces. The world of pollinators is one such ecosystem that needs our help to survive and you can learn more about them at this annual festival in New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire Monarch Festival takes place annually at Petals in the Pines in Canterbury. Its mission is to bring awareness to the plight of monarch butterflies.
Every family gets a gift bag with milkweed and other pollinator seeds. You will also learn how to plant them, so you can attract butterflies right in your own yard.
For more information on this ecologically-important festival in New Hampshire, visit the Petals in the Pines website and be sure to follow Petals in the Pines on Facebook for the latest updates.
