I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and I love photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world! Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream.
The scenery is quite enchanting throughout the Land of Enchantment, wouldn’t you agree? I sure do! And one of the best ways to experience such incredible, other-worldly scenery is by taking a nice long scenic drive in New Mexico. One amazing drive is along the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway which loops through towns like Taos, Arroyo Hondo, and Questa. For those of you who have yet to visit Questa, it’s as charming as can be and offers so much in terms of scenery to those who visit.
Ready to hit the road on a scenic adventure along the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway? This route starts at NM 522 in Taos and eventually connects to NM 38 in Questa.
While Taos is a must-visit for everyone, the small village of Questa is a worthwhile place to stop and spend some time along this scenic byway as well.
Known for its hiking and scenic campgrounds, Questa is a beautiful, peaceful, and charming place to be. Pictured here is Eagle Rock Lake, one of the most popular places for hiking, fishing, and picnicking in Questa. This park is certainly worth spending an hour or so in and you can take a wonderful stroll around the lake.
Rio Grande Gorge Trail is a moderate 6-mile, out-and-back trail that's a must for those who love to go hiking. It takes about three hours to complete, so if you have the time to commit, it's worthwhile to see the variety of landscapes in the area.
Make sure you download the AllTrails+ app before heading out on this trek!
Head into town, and you can visit St. Anthony's Church which was originally built in the 1880s. Open during daylight hours, it welcomes all to stop in.

If you're looking for a place to dine in Questa, there are a few options including Wildcat's Den. Stop by for a burger, chicken strips, Frito pie, a shake, and more!
