Looking for a fun day trip in New York this fall? It’s hard to beat a pumpkin patch. When it comes to these iconic symbols of Autumn, there are plenty to choose from around the state. One, however, is a bit more special than many others. That’s right, we are talking about Awald Farms and W&J Awald Farms in North Collins, New York. In the summer, one outpost of the farm has, in the past, been a great place to pick berries (it was not open in 2023). In the fall, though, the 2195 Shirley Road location of Awald turns into a giant pumpkin farm—and we do mean giant! The farm is known for cranking out huge pumpkins. There’s plenty of activities to do at nearby W&J Awald Farms, too. It’s fun for the whole family, and it might just be the best pumpkin patch in Erie County, New York. Awald Farms calls itself the Giant Pumpkin Patch. They aren’t lying! The patch is home to over 900 “giant pumpkins,” some of which are almost 200 pounds! Visitors can select from one of the huge varieties, or more “regular-style” pumpkins.

No matter where someone might be located in New York State, a trip to Awald Farms and W&J Awald Farms is a trip worth making.
