And here's an interesting historical tidbit: If you happen to visit the beach during an extremely low tide, you might spot a rusting ship engine buried in the shifting sands.

This engine is a relic from the steamship SS Tennessee, which tragically ran aground in the cove back in 1853. Despite the unfortunate incident, all 550 passengers on board managed to reach the beach safely, and even more astonishingly, fourteen chests of gold were salvaged before the ship broke apart.
