There is something so enchanting about exploring the coastline of Northern California. This is my absolute favorite part of California – the ruggedly beautiful landscapes, the winding roads through stunning, towering trees. Plus, we can’t forget some of the most breathtaking ocean views. What’s even better when exploring this part of NorCal is being able to stop in the charming small towns along the way. One of my personal favorites is Elk – a tiny rural community in Northern California that is small but offers a huge experience for visitors.
Nestled on the captivating Northern California coastline in Mendocino County, the cozy community of Elk – sometimes affectionately called Greenwood – is a true gem.
Nestled on the rugged Pacific Coast, the historic Harbor House Inn, built in 1916, boasts classic furnishings, fireplaces, decks, and pathways to lush gardens and a private beach.
Within the premises of the Inn, there resides a distinguished restaurant with two Michelin stars, and a Green star for sustainability. The restaurant presents a hyper-local tasting menu, thoughtfully curated with a focus on seafood and vegetables.
You can spend your days at Greenwood Creek State Beach, which offers some of the most picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean. The beach is characterized by its rugged beauty, with a mix of rocky shorelines, sandy stretches, and towering cliffs that frame the coastline.
The blend of natural wonders, small-town charm, and refreshing coastal ambiance makes Elk a captivating destination for guests looking to explore and enjoy the simple life.
