I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.

When it comes to waterfalls in Ohio, bigger isn’t always better. The Buckeye State might not be home to Niagara Falls (or the Niagara of the South), but waterfall chasers flock to places like Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Hocking Hills State Park to get their falls fix. In addition to these well-known waterfalls, there are lesser-known falls across the state that, what they lack in stature and name recognition, more than make up for in beguiling beauty and enchantment. This is certainly the case with Honey Run Falls, a small-but-mighty waterfall in Knox County that’s worth driving across Ohio to explore.
Central Ohio is hailed as the heart of it all, a place of rolling farmland and bucolic beauty. It's not, say, a region often regarded for an abundance of waterfalls.
Accessing the falls is easy-peasy; a parking lot to access the falls is located at 10855 Hazel Dell Road, Howard, OH 43208. From there, the eponymous Honey Run Falls Trail is a delightful half-mile, out-and-back trek that takes explorers straight to the falls.
At 25 feet (and especially glorious after a rainfall), Honey Run Falls is a thing of beauty; a formerly private cascade nestled on private land that the Knox County Park District, with financial assistance from the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, acquired in 2007.
Today, the waterfall is one of the crown jewels and best-kept secrets of Central Ohio. It's open to the public 365 days a year, and truly ravishing in every season...
In fact, winter might be the *best* time to visit this fanciful waterfall, with the annual Fire and Ice Event transforming the falls into a real-life winter wonderland, complete with scores of flickering luminaries.
No matter when you visit, however, this waterfall in Central Ohio is worth chasing. Whether you hail from Cleveland or Cincinnati, Athens or Bowling Green, Honey Run Waterfall is an enchanting Ohio waterfall worth chasing.
Have you seen Honey Run Falls in person? It’s a sublime spectacle to behold, and certainly worth adding to your waterfall chasing to-do list! Visit the Honey Run Falls Trail listing on AllTrails for directions on this easy, half-mile waterfall hike in Ohio.
