We often hear about the latest restaurant and business openings, but it’s not quite as common to learn about new hiking trails. Did you know, for example, that one of the newest hiking trails in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania promises plenty of peace and quiet and the opportunity to view local wildlife? Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a newbie, consider adding this pretty path to your outdoor bucket list.
When the lone hiking trail at the 200-acre Ephraim Malickson Wildlife Sanctuary opened in the spring of 2023, it helped fulfill the dream of the late Birdsboro resident.
Before he passed away in 2010, Malickson made it known he wanted the land he owned to remain undeveloped and to become a sanctuary for nature and local wildlife.
Although it tends to be quiet, the wildlife sanctuary has ample parking if you visit on a busy day.

You'll likely also hear the sanctuary referred to as "Tekene 2," the name Malickson gave the land. An indigenous Lenape word, tekene means "uninhabited."
If you're in the mood for some quiet time in nature, you've come to the right place. You'll likely only run into local wildlife, including birds and deer, on your journey.
Stroll through the forested area, where you'll pass wildflowers in the warmer months. Those warmer months also bring an abundance of bugs, so plan accordingly.
Have you followed this hiking trail in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania? What did you think? Let us know in the comments! Still up for more adventure? Did you know you can go rock climbing in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, too?
