I grew up in Rhode Island and can attest to the fact that it’s one of the most beautiful states in the country. Within our tiny state, we have cities and small towns, amazing restaurants and cafes, and, of course, beautiful beaches. But we also have a lot of untouched land that makes for perfect camping for those of us who love to spend time outside, especially when the weather is warm. If you’re someone who enjoys camping (or even glamping like me), here are the best campgrounds in Rhode Island:

Best State Park Campgrounds in Rhode Island

The Ocean State is home to 14 state parks and there are over 8,200 acres of land within the state park system, a fact I find truly incredible! With all this protected land, there are opportunities to camp. If you love to spend time in our parks, here are some of the best state park campgrounds in Rhode Island:

Burlingame State Park, 1 Burlingame State Park Rd, Charlestown, RI 02813, USA

• Popularity: This is a very popular campground. Its peak season is between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.
• Park Info: Burlingame State Park is home to Watchaug Pond which has its own beach. People come here for swimming, picnicking, boating, and fishing.
• Price: A standard site ranges between $18 and $45, a shelter site's prices are between $18 and $36, and a cabin is priced between $50 and $75.

The campground at Burlingame State Park has 700 rustic camping spots along with 20 cabins. Campground amenities include a bathroom, showers, a playground, a beach, a boat ramp, canoe rentals, and a camp store. This is a great campground due to its location by Watchaug Pond and it's a short drive from ocean beaches.

Keep in mind that these are primitive campsites so there are no amenities or utilities. Be sure to bring everything you need, including potable water, with you and leave with everything you came with. Tent camping is not allowed.
