Summer’s moving merrily along. Before we know it, though, we’ll be bundling up in sweaters, drinking hot apple cider, and admiring the spectacular burst of color that paints the Rhode Island landscape. Now is the perfect time to pack in as much summer fun as we can, including a trip to this farm in Johnston, Rhode Island for a bit of pick-your-own fun.
Stroll through a beautiful field of sunflowers, where you can pick your own, at Dame Farm & Orchards in Johnston, a family-friendly destination that promises a fun summer experience.
Even if you don’t feel like picking flowers, you can pay a nominal fee just to meander through the fields that also include zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, lilies, and lavender.
If you do decide to pick your own flowers, you must bring your own garden scissors or clippers and follow a few farm rules to ensure everyone’s safety.
Pets are not allowed on the farm, and running around is prohibited. You also can’t go near the farm ponds or bring your own bags or containers to the farm.
Before you set off on your adventure, you must stop by the information booth or farm stand to check in. You’ll also be required to pay for everything you pick.
The fun doesn’t stop once you’ve picked your flowers, though. You can also hop aboard a wagon for a ride around the farm. Rides last 30 minutes and are generally held on Saturdays. If you’re interested during the week, please contact the farm before heading over.
Before your adventure comes to a close, stop by the farm stand, where you can stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Dame Farm & Orchards also offers pick-your-own fruits, including blueberries.
