Isn’t it amazing when we can participate in a really great event and benefit a cause near and dear to our hearts at the same time? This is what happens every year with the Hot Air Affair in Anderson County, South Carolina. It’s a hot air balloon festival with all proceeds going to the Cancer Association of Anderson!
Each year since 2017, people have gathered in Anderson County to see bright, colorful hot air balloons take flight while supporting the fight against cancer.
There are over 20 hot air balloons that are expected to participate in the event, so you'll see a nice variety of designs and colors. This one, for example, is called Stairway to Heaven, owned by Rick Ferrall from Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Not only does this wonderful, unique event raise money for local cancer patients, but it also gives them an opportunity to take flight in a hot air balloon!
And one of the people heavily involved in the hot air balloon arena, Duane Clark, a balloon pilot who competed in many national championships and mentored other balloonists, unfortunately passed away from cancer in 2006.
The 2023 event will include a special appearance by Martina McBride, who will be performing in the headlining concert on Sunday.
