I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and I love photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world! Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream.
While New England gets most of the credit when it comes to a spectacular display of colorful foliage in the fall, there are a few places in Arizona that also offer beautiful fall hues. If you’re intent on exploring this great state of ours, you may want to try one scenic spot that’s little-known and you may have it all to yourself when you go. Aravaipa Canyon is where you can discover fall colors in Arizona.
Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness encompasses more than 19,000 acres in southeastern Arizona. Remote and rugged, it's practically an unknown area to many living in the state.
And what better time to visit than during the fall when the leaves start to change colors? Late-November through early December might just be the best time of the season to catch the kaleidoscope of colorful hues here.
Among the trees found within Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness are cottonwood, sycamore, willow, walnut, and alder. With a mix of forest trees, the colorful display during the fall is nothing short of spectacular.
Take a hike and discover a dreamy landscape filled with fall color. This is such a special place to explore no matter what time of year but even more so during the fall months.
