I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and I love photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world! Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream.
When the fall season hits, visiting a farm is almost a requirement. Between apple picking and pumpkin picking, it’s a great way to ring in the cooler seasonal weather. Add in a fall festival on a farm and you’ve got a perfect fall activity! While not all farms around the state offer fall festivals, many do have wonderful pumpkin patches where you can pick out your favorite pumpkins for painting, making jack-o-lanterns, or baking. Here are seven of the best pumpkin patches in Arizona:
1. Viola's Pumpkin Patch at Viola's Flower Garden
Viola's Flower Garden, 610 S, AZ-89A, Flagstaff, AZ 86005, USA
If you're looking for pumpkin patches near Flagstaff, Viola's is the place to go. Throughout the month of October, Viola's Flower Garden transforms into Viola's Pumpkin Patch. There's a whole slew of activities from a pumpkin decorating station to a straw maze, carnival games, and over 20 varieties of pumpkins to choose from. Make sure to make a stop here this fall!
If you live in or are visiting Cochise County and are looking for a "pumpkin patch near me," you can't go wrong with Apple Annie's Orchard. Sure, the word "apple" is in the name but that doesn't mean this farm isn't also known for its pumpkins and a variety of other fruits and vegetables! Apple Annie's actually has a 40-acre pumpkin patch where you can discover (and pick) your perfect pumpkin from late September until the end of October. Now, how's that for ringing in the fall season? Sounds pretty great to me!
If you want to visit one of the best pumpkin patches near Queen Creek, Schnepf Farms is the place to go. Starting October 5, you can partake in Schnepf Farm's Pumpkin & Chili party. There will be pig races, amusement rides, train rides, corn mazes, and, of course, pumpkins. This farm really knows how to celebrate fall!
As for pumpkin patches near Prescott, you'll love visiting Mortimer Farms in nearby Dewey. The farm's annual Pumpkin Festival & Corn Maze will open on September 29 and close on October 29. The hours are 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day of the festival. Tickets are $19.50 (children under the age of 2 are free). Try your skills in the corn maze then go to the field to find your pumpkin. There's so much fun to be had at Mortimer Farms this fall!
For those looking for pumpkin patches near Yuma, the Yuma Family Pumpkin Patch has been going strong since 2005. Sponsored by Champion Church and run by hundreds of volunteers, families can enjoy spending time outside while looking for a pumpkin. The dates for this pumpkin patch are the last three weekends of October from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sundays.
From Saturday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 29th, Vertuccio Farms will host its annual Fall Festival complete with a corn maze and a pumpkin patch. So, if you're looking for pumpkin patches near Mesa, this is the farm to visit. The festival will also include a petting zoo, a massive slide, barrel train rides, carnival games, mini golf, and so much more!
If you're looking for more pumpkin patches near Phoenix, consider driving to the Rocker 7 Farm Patch in Buckeye. There is an admission price of $9 per person or $40 per family (up to 5 people) for the pumpkin patch but it's so worth it! The field is open between Oct. 12 and Oct. 29 on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
