My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
I find it kind of funny that axe throwing has become such a huge success. It all started when a couple of guys hanging out in a cabin in Toronto started throwing axes at a stump. You never know when a simple way to pass the time might make it, and somehow, axe throwing become somewhat of an overnight success. This sport has now left the Canadian woods and made its way into the hometowns and hearts of us Americans. After all, there is nothing quite as invigorating as chucking an axe at a board and feeling the satisfying thud into the target! If you haven’t gone axe throwing yet, head over to Gatlinburg Axe House for a super fun time on your next Smoky Mountain adventure.
It all started with one man's love for the sport of... axe throwing.
Having a knack for throwing hatchets, the owner of Gatlinburg Axe House started honing his craft before this attraction was ever open. Making his way to even a couple of ESPN-covered tournaments, he knew he needed to bring this chuckin' good time back home for everyone to enjoy. Now you can find it upstairs right above the Chocolate Monkey in downtown Gatlinburg. If you blink, you’ll miss it, but you don’t want to miss out on the great time everyone is having inside.
The Gatlinburg Axe House is designed to be a family-friendly environment where people from all walks of life can come together to yeet some hatchets.
Find a row and bring your group to take turns strategically chucking axes. It is a great way to get out some pent-up emotions and it feels oddly empowering.

There are several ways to enjoy this activity, ranging from simply attempting to hit a bullseye to a more strategic game involving various targets and numbers on the board (think darts, but with axes).
The glowing lights and interesting effects make for a wholly different axe-throwing adventure. Each row features different characters and designs to spice things up. At Christmas, try to hit the Grinch and at Halloween, throw an axe at some ghouls and ghosts.
The first time I went axe throwing I was instantly hooked and I can almost guarantee you will too.
This facility was created for the love of axe throwing and you will get some one-on-one time with a coach to show you the safety and rules of the sport. After a bit of coaching (safety first, friends!), you are free to yeet, hurl, chuck, and throw to your heart's content. Every single person will get a chance to throw an axe on the target and they make sure everyone who comes hits the target at least once before they leave.
Gatlinburg Axe House is designed to be a family-friendly and safe way to enjoy the sport and, as such, they do not allow alcohol on the property; however, kids are encouraged to get in on the axe-throwing fun. So if you are looking for a barbaric and wholly unique activity for the fam, look no further than Gatlinburg Axe House!
