After dealing with relentless heat for a number of months, we Arizonans are so ready for fall! When fall falls upon us, a whole new world of events and opportunities arises and we must take advantage of this time (especially before the holiday season). With cooler air, leaves beginning to change colors in some parts of the state, and numerous seasonal festivities, there are so many things to do and places to explore in the fall. So, how about a day trip? Take a small-town fall day trip to Show Low, a beautiful place to explore the outdoors in cooler weather.
Show Low is a small city located on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona's White Mountains. Home to only 12,000 residents, this is a city with small-town vibes and sits at an elevation of 6,349 feet.
With its wonderful sense of community and slower pace of life, Show Low is a wonderful place to live. These factors along with all there is to do in the great outdoors makes it an exceptional place to visit.
One place in Show Low you must visit is Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area. Home to a 150-acre lake, fishing, boating, and swimming are popular activities here.
While you're here, explore by taking a hike along the park's 1.5-mile trail. And keep your eyes open for the variety of bird species that call this place home.
When hunger strikes, make a stop at Buffalo Bill's Tavern & Grill for a bite to eat. With its casual ambiance and friendly service, you'll feel right at home!
The food at Buffalo Bill's mainly uses locally-sourced ingredients, making this a farm-to-table type of restaurant. From burgers to BBQ, from salads to pizza, wings, and sandwiches, the food here is fresh and delicious.
While drinking and dining are always great options here, Buffalo Bill's also has a museum you should check out. Peruse the exhibits filled with wild bill and buffalo memorabilia.
Close to town but surrounded by nature, this is one vacation rental where you can truly relax.
