For More Than 40 Years, This Small Town Has Hosted This Long Running Festival In Tennessee

When fall rolls around here in Tennessee, there is a distinct crispness in the air as the trees put on a spectacular display of colors. Although we here in Tennessee experience the fall a little bit later in the season, there are plenty of ways to get into the spirit of autumn. For me, apples always represent this season and I’m glad to see I am not alone because there is a long-running event called the Unicoi Apple Festival in Tennessee which celebrates all things fall.
Starting over four decades ago, this festival has changed from a simple eight-vendor, one-day event to a two-day festival that brings in thousands of people!
Every year, crowds of people gather around the small town of Erwin, Tennessee, to celebrate the start of the fall season. Even though the weather might not feel like fall the abundance of decorations will be a great welcome to this lovely season.
Hundreds of vendors line the streets downtown selling handcrafted goods, woodworking masterpieces, and one-of-a-kind art. You might want to come early because some vendors have been known to sell out before the event is over.
Of course, there is always plenty to *do* at the festival, too. Throw some axes, take the kiddos to the bounce houses, or get their face painted. Each year brings a whole breadth of new possibilities.
There will be plenty of apples, apple pies, and other apple-related goods to munch down on, of course, but no festival would be complete without some awesome food trucks. Here, you'll find the best of the best lined up in perfect formation and luring in customers with tasty-smelling goodies.
Live music is always a big part of the event and one you will not want to miss. Stick around to hear outrageous '80s cover bands and get carried away by the twangy sounds of bluegrass bands that are synonymous with the region.
If you are traveling from across the state (or even if you're not!), beat the traffic and crowds and stay in this lovely rental home in Erwin. Bring along your family and friends because this rental can accommodate up to 10 people and while you are relaxing in the morning take full advantage of the mountain views.
