Without a doubt, one of the best small towns for fall in Texas is Winnsboro. This itty bitty city may only have about 3,500 residents, but you’d never know it if you visit during the month of October when the annual Winnsboro Autumn Trails celebration is in full swing. This month-long event features pie and chili cook-offs, a flea market, an antique car show, and so much more. Even better than the festivities, however, is the town’s overflowing small-town charm and Southern hospitality that make tourists feel like lifelong Winnsboro natives.
No matter where you're from, visiting Winnsboro - a small town of around 3,500 located about an hour north of Tyler - feels a bit like coming home.
It's one of those small towns most of us think only exist in movies, with year-round events and a tight-knit community. My personal favorite time of year to take a trip to Winnsboro is in the fall, primarily because of the annual Winnsboro Autumn Trails celebration.
With festivities happening every weekend in October, Winnsboro Autumn Trails is something straight out of a Hallmark movie.
There's a pageant, rodeos, a swap meet, and the all-important trail ride through the streets of downtown, which is arguably the most iconic event of the festival.
