There are so many amazing things, as well as very unique things, that the Grand Canyon State is known for. If you grew up here, or even if you’ve lived here for a while, there are some attributes the state has that others just don’t. From dust storms to certain wildlife, take a look at these Arizona photos and see what feelings or memories they evoke.

Also known as "haboobs," dust storms can sometimes come out of nowhere and, if you're out driving in one, visibility may be limited. They are unpredictable so if you see one in the distance, it's best to seek shelter.

While Arizona is known for having a drier climate than most other states, between June and September, there's a spike in humidity. With the humidity comes the chance for heavy rain and thunderstorms. This is monsoon season and the storms can be pretty epic!

Considered one of the best boating lakes in the state, it may come as no surprise that during springtime, Lake Havasu becomes quite crowded with boats. It's also a popular spot for those on spring break.

The Salt River is considered a lazy river and, therefore, it's a great spot for tubing. So grab your friends, rent some tubes, and enjoy drifting down this scenic river during Arizona's hot weather.

Tubing on the Salt River is a popular activity and you may be able to spot more than scenery as you float. Wild horses roam the area in and around the lower Salt River and they are absolutely majestic!

While they look like wild pigs or boars, javelinas are collared peccary and they can be found out in the Arizona wilderness. Additionally, they can sometimes be found outside of your home depending on where you live. While they are cute, they are wild animals so please don't touch or chase one if you encounter any.

Maybe you've seen scorpions in your house or while hiking in the desert, and we all know they are to be avoided.
I don't know about you, but these critters make be want to run for the hills! Also, I will never understand the fascination tourists have with scorpion lollipops but they are quite a popular item.

A typical scene among the Sonoran Desert landscape, saguaro cacti are in abundance. There are approximately 2 million of these tree-like cacti throughout Arizona and they're a protected plant species.
