I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and I love photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world! Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
You deserve a getaway, right? Well, I think we all do every now and again! And here’s one getaway idea for you — spending the night in a treehouse chalet and exploring the wilderness that surrounds it. This unique place to stay in Kachina Village, Arizona is a serene home base for you to enjoy the great outdoors and it even has its very own hot tub!
Kachina Village is a census-designated community on the outskirts of Flagstaff. While Flagstaff can get quite busy with college students, hikers, and skiers (depending on the time of the year), Kachina Village is like an escape from city life.
While it's certainly more rural than Flagstaff, this community offers quite a bit in terms of wildlife and hiking. If that's the kind of escape you're craving, we're pretty sure you'll like it here!
Let's start with accommodations. Here we have the Treehouse Chalet. Rustic yet luxurious and surrounded by Ponderosa pine trees, you'll really feel as though you're on a great escape.
While you can always venture into Flag to grab a meal at one of the many restaurants, you may want to maximize your time at this serene treehouse and cook instead. The gourmet kitchen offers stainless steel appliances and everything you need to cook a delicious meal. There's even a grill outside for your convenience.
If you'd like an outdoor adventure, how about taking a hike along the 2.7-mile, out-and-back Pumphouse Wash Trail? While relatively easy, it's as scenic as can be and a haven for wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for birds, mammals, and dragonflies.
Another scenic trail in the area is the Kachina Wetlands Trail. Take a 1.6-mile loop around Kachina Wetlands Preserve which provides an ideal habitat for numerous wetland and upland bird species.
Sure, you can always go into Flagstaff to see what the city has to offer but it's also nice to explore the great outdoors of Kachina Village!
