As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you are like me, a picture-perfect weekend away from home involves time outdoors. Whether on a hike, at a state park, or even with animals, there is nothing like sunshine and fresh air. In southern Utah, there are many bucket-list-worthy destinations to visit but one destination that often doesn’t get the attention it deserves is Kanab. Here, you can fill day after day with adventure and then head to the perfect base camp at night. In fact, we recommend the Blackhawk Cabin, a Kanab vacation rental with cozy accommodations, excellent proximity to various attractions, and beautiful views. It is one of the best places to stay in Utah.
Just north of the Arizona state line is the charming town of Kanab. Home to approximately 5,000 residents, this town definitely isn’t large but it’s the perfect spot to set up a base camp, especially if you are planning a weekend outdoors.
While many people come to this Utah state park to explore on an ATV, hiking, and sandboarding are also popular activities. Plus, the sand creates incredible scenery if you love photography.

If you are up for an unforgettable hiking experience, put on your hiking boots and explore Buckskin Gulch.
Buckskin Gulch is the longest continuous slot canyon in Utah and it is absolutely beautiful. However, be aware that the journey can be a bit challenging and permits are required.
For even more time outdoors, especially if you are looking for someplace to cool off, there’s no better place than Lake Powell. Here, you can rent a boat, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, and while you’ll only be able to explore a small area of this lake, it’s one destination that you’ll have a hard time leaving at the end of the day.
At the end of each day’s adventure, you will likely be tired. That’s why I love staying in a charming cabin with all of the amenities my family needs. The Blackhawk Cabin is a Kanab vacation rental that’s perfect for larger groups.
However, you can also step outside and enjoy the southern Utah views right from the large deck. Sit around the fire pit, soak in the hot tub, and just enjoy the scenery around you — it’s pretty much perfect.
