Utah is no stranger to themed festivals. From Strawberry Days to Pioneer Days to Peach Days, it seems like there’s a festival for everything in our state. But, there’s one themed festival that has been going strong for nearly a century — Payson City Golden Onion Days. First held in 1929, this onion-themed festival in Utah celebrates Payson City’s onion production. Held over Labor Day Weekend each year, this event has a little something for every member of the family.
Payson City Golden Onion Days has become a long-standing tradition for Payson residents and visitors alike. Held in this Utah town since 1929, it has become an event that you’ll want to mark your calendars to attend.
When first held, this event was known as the Onion Harvest and Homecoming, but has since changed to the Payson City Golden Onion Days and it’s a weekend packed with events.
You can also walk around and enjoy the food and merchandise vendors and listen to live music. If you wish to let out your competitive side, participate in activities like corn hole or basketball tournaments.
Many of the activities are held at Payson City’s Memorial Park.
Some of the highlights of this annual festival include the parade and car show. There are also additional activities like an art show and a flower show, which are two of the longest running events at this festival. Like I mentioned before, there really is something for everyone.
And, to top it all off, there will also be a beautiful firework display that you won’t want to miss.
For more information about this year’s event, visit Payson City’s official website and the Payson City Facebook page.
