When a restaurant has stood the test of time for nearly a century, it's a clue that there are some pretty magical menu items being served up inside. Svilar's Bar & Steakhouse in Hudson, Wyoming is no exception! This family-owned hidden gem has been welcoming hungry diners since 1941, although the history of Svilar's goes back even further to 1912.

Svilar's has been tucked away between Lander and Riverton for decades now. But before its final iteration as a delicious local steakhouse and watering hole, Svilar's played many roles in the community, from a creamery and ice house to a service station, clothing store, bakery, and more. Even cigar production at one point!

Uniquely, the meat-centric era of this beloved small-town steakhouse first began as a love story.

Since its humble beginnings, Svilar's has fueled up a number of celebrities and big names over the decades. Famous figures like Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, President John F. Kennedy, and even actor Roy Rogers, just to name a few, have dined in this very space.

Today, you may or may not find yourself seated in a vintage red booth across the way from a celebrity, but you'll definitely be sharing a delicious dining experience with some friendly faces and fantastic new friends. Locals already know that Svilar's is a treasure and will welcome you with open arms to Hudson.

You'll also be treated to a phenomenal meal, whipped up using many of the same recipes Momma Svilar herself used.

Sundance White Ranch Park is a beautiful, 100-acre natural area and non-profit park located at the foot of Sundance Mountain, just a short jaunt from the town of Sundance.

The park is open to the public from dawn to dusk and offers numerous trails and nature experiences for all ages and abilities, ranging from hiking and biking to running, picnicking, and good ol' fashioned strolling. Leashed pets welcome!

Around SWRP, you'll find both trails and open spaces to enjoy the area's natural eco-diversity.

Plus, there are plenty of flora and fauna to ogle along the way! Relax on a bench to enjoy the sights and sounds of the local residents.

Both the Serenity Trail and the Lakota Trail are under or around one mile, making them doable for nearly everyone and the perfect starting point for getting the lay of the land.

Sundance White Ranch also houses three diverse open areas, each utilizing existing game trails and taking advantage of the unique landscape.

You'll be able to hike rolling hills and steep inclines and pass by rocky remnants of the area's Native American past.

And learn all about the history of the area!

Uniquely, the park also updates its website regularly with trail conditions so you'll always know what to expect and can dress accordingly.

The park comes alive in fall, but there's no bad season to visit.

Do note that not all trails at SWRP are mixed-use. Consult the trail signage at the park or the SWRP website to determine where bikes are allowed.

But regardless of how you explore this fantastic hiking park, you can't argue that the setting and landscapes are spectacular.

Many Wyomingites have heard of the teeny tiny historic community of Aladdin, WY, nestled in the northeast corner of the state, which still houses one of the coolest old-fashioned general stores in the state.

But just a few miles away, you'll also find Cook Lake Recreation Area.

This quiet, off-the-beaten-path reservoir offers all of your traditional recreation experiences, including picnicking, camping (both primitive and RV), and fishing.

However, one aspect of Cook Lake that makes it so special is that only non-motorized craft are allowed in the water. That makes the water here exceptionally pristine and keeps the beaches delightfully free of crowds.

In fact, you'll find the entire area to be a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle. Cook Lake is peacefully nestled in the Black Hills National Forest in Wyoming, and completely surrounded by thick trees.

Campsites are perfectly spread out for privacy, many with front-row seats of the water.

But even if you're only visiting for a day, you'll love how many spots there are to throw down a towel and kick back on the shoreline.

Go exploring on around 5 miles of waterfront and woodsy trails.

As far as remote beaches go, you could arguably find a few that are even more isolated from civilization, but we think Cook Lake is pretty special!

For locals, Star Plunge isn't much of a hidden gem. But this fantastic, family-friendly destination has more to offer than many realize.

And when we say there's a lot hidden away here, we mean a lot!

In the mood for a swim? You'll find both indoor and outdoor pools, all naturally heated with the soothing mineral waters of the Big Spring.

Star Plunge even has a baby pool so that the resort's youngest guests have a safe place to splash around.

Feeling brave? Try your hand at the high dive!

And in between dips, kick back on one of the sunning decks.

The Star Plunge hot spring pool is a little toastier than the main pools...

...pouring in at 104 degrees (a.k.a. the perfect temperature to relax fatigued muscles and indulge in the miraculous healing benefits).

Then there are the waterpark features, too. Waterslides and water fountains included!

Uniquely, the Super Star 500 is said to be one of the world’s longest water slides, "gushing over 2,400 gallons per minute down a flume that measures over 500 feet." Yes, please!

But don't skip over the other waterslides here! You'll find at least two others to choose from.

When temperatures drop, warm up in the Vapor Cave - a naturally-heated steam room carved right into the face of the mountain.

Outside of splashing, soaking, and marinating in the variety of water features, Star Plunge also boasts plenty of other things to do as well. Check out the game room, spin-crossover dribble your way to the basketball courts for a quick game, or hop on over to the fitness room for a different kind of spin!

Of course, winter is a fantastic time to pay Star Plunge a visit too. Soaking in the snow while new flakes fall dreamily around you? It's like something out of a fairytale!

Forget something at home? The on-site gift shop has swimsuits, swim essentials, snacks, and souvenirs galore.

This year-round destination is perfect for families and guests of all ages. It'll definitely become your new favorite staycation (or vacation) tradition!

Trail End State Park is a unique historic site in Sheridan, Wyoming that boasts the fabulous 13,000-square-foot Kendrick Mansion and beautifully manicured grounds.

The mansion was built back in 1908 by John Kendrick, and at the time, only cost $165,000 to build.

Exotic materials for the residence were shipped from all over the country - and the world! - by rail.

The final result was an opulent, stunning piece of Flemish Revival architecture (a blending of French and Belgian influences) with 30 lavishly decorated rooms, three floors, plus four balconies and four porches.

This gorgeous historic site is open year-round and offers impeccable views, however, the mansion museum is only open during certain seasons and with limited hours.

For many, old historic mansions can have a little bit of eeriness to them. But prior to spooky season, the Kendrick Mansion at Trail End will be hosting a lavish gala fit for every Gatsby lover, Clue fan, and Gothic-Victorian architecture enthusiast:

A murder mystery dinner party!

Everyone is a suspect…but who is the real killer? You'll have to figure that out for yourself.

Costumes are highly encouraged.

The evening will include refreshments. A cash bar will be available as well.

Due to the nature of the event, which will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, the Murder Mystery Party at Kendrick Mansion is only for those 21 and over.

Tickets are extremely limited - only 25 are available for each night - and they typically sell out every year, so act fast! Cost is $60 per person or $100 for two guests. You won't want to miss this!
