When you want to take your mind off things, are looking for new inspiration, or if you’re just seeking a spot to relax, head to the Sculpture Garden at the Pizzuti Collection. The wonderful setting and contemporary sculptures will certainly leave you with a pleasant feeling.
The sculpture garden sits beneath the shade of sycamore trees and showcases a variety of large contemporary works.
Among them you will find Jason Middlebrook's Strata Benches . These benches are embedded with random objects that were left over from the offices of The United Commercial Travelers Insurance Company, which constructed the building in the 1920s.
You will also see The Tower of Snow , a bronze sculpture by Cuban artist Enrique Martinez Celaya.
This sculpture represents both the mental and physical strains of the migration seen across the world today.
Jim Hodges' Untitled is another striking work.
This piece takes viewers on a sensual journey using reflective surfaces, 3D shapes, and the theme of camouflage.
Tonico Lemos Auad's Figa is a six feet high representation of a well-known gesture.
In Brazil, Auad's native country, the gesture of the clenched fist with its thumb tucked between the two fingers is a sign conveying good luck, similar to a cloverleaf or horseshoe.
You will also be able to interact with Alexandre Arrechea's Chrysler .
Arrechea transforms and twists the iconic New York building, which turns your past interactions with the structure into a whole new experience.
John Chamberlain's Luckyegpyt is another beautiful, unique piece in the garden.
The artists currently on view in the sculpture garden are Cristian Andersen, Alexandre Arrechea, Tonico Lemos Auad, Enrique Martínez Celaya, John Chamberlain, Tony Cragg, Tom Friedman, Jim Hodges, Thomas Houseago, Jason Middlebrook, and David Renggli.
The Pizzuti Collection is located at 632 North Park St., Columbus, OH 43215.
The gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
