Kansas City has a deep history as one of the most important places in America throughout much of its creation. However, today it is less about trading goods to New Mexico and more about the history of everyone who lives here. If you’ve lived in Kansas City for a while or were even born here, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of this attraction before. This is the only official WWI museum in America, and we’re lucky enough to have it right here in Kansas City. Let’s take a look.
The National World War I Museum and Memorial is the only one if its kind in America. This amazing view was captured from atop the Liberty Memorial Tower.
These four carvings on the tower are 40 feet tall and represent (from left to right) Honor, Courage, Patriotism, and Sacrifice. There's nothing more fitting to explain this museum.

Inside the museum, you'll find artifacts from eras long past.
Everything from military clothing and flags to old vehicles can be found here. The museum itself is here to honor, educate, and interpret the history associated with WWI and its effects.
Every piece of history in these walls is important to someone and can be directly tied to people who lived and fought through the war.
Endless photographs, advertisements, and maps display every angle of what happened during the war. There are also replica trenches, interactive displays, and even a mini-movie you can watch about the events that transpired. A trip here can easily last hours and will be filled with knowledge and history.
The museum also has rotating exhibits that vary in subject, but all make their way here at some point.
This one pictured above is titled FIELDS OF BATTLE, LANDS OF PEACE: THE DOUGHBOYS, 1917-1918 and has traveled all over the world, displaying the history of the Doughboys specifically.
This monument to history stands tall among the KC skyline, and serves as a constant reminder of Liberty.
The National World War I Museum and Memorial is open from 10 AM to 5 PM every day except for Monday, and the attached Over There Cafe is open until 3 PM on days the museum is in operation.
