While there is plenty to do within the city limits of Louisville, there is also a multitude of attractions within a short drive of our city. Kentucky and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer, which means you can take some pretty epic day trips. A little less than three hours southeast of Louisville is the picturesque area of Cumberland Falls. This day trip of a lifetime will take you to Kentucky’s most famous waterfall, and will treat you to many other wonderful surprises.
Known as the Niagara of the South, Cumberland Falls is within a few hours of Louisville, in a beautiful area of the state.
During your visit, make sure to check out Dupont Lodge, and perhaps plan a return trip so you can stay in one of their lovely rooms or rental cabins. You can also grab a bite to eat at Riverview Restaurant.

The park has many trails that range in difficulty and are beautiful any time of year.
You can stop by the visitor center for a map, but you'll definitely want to take the easy hike to the overlook and get an up close look at this magnificent falls.
Each season has its own special magic at the park, so it really doesn't matter when you decide to take the trip.
During the spring and summer, you can watch the park come back to life. You can even take to the water yourself with one of the many adventures offered by different water sport companies.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is one of the most beautiful places in Kentucky and is more than worthy of a day trip from Louisville.
Pick a day, fill up your gas tank, and head south to this incredible spot with unbelievable scenery and amazing adventure.
