Next time you’re out for a walk around Lake Harriet, be sure to stop by the Elf Tree! The Lake Harriet Elf (aka Mr. Little Guy) lives at the base of a giant ash tree on the south shore of the lake. Though Mr. Little Guy has never been seen by the public, he allows people to post notes and letters by opening the 6-inch tall door to his house and placing them inside the tree. Local legend says that notes left in the tree for the elf are always answered with a message. The elf winters somewhere out east, but returns each spring.

Other points to mention are Betty’s mini-golf course, featuring an 800 pound gorilla! Betty Danger’s Country Club will not disappoint.

White Castle Building Number 8 was one of the few prefabricated portable buildings built by the restaurant chain. This 28’ by 28’ building has had three different locations before finding its permanent location. While you can’t find burgers here, you might be able to find other treasures!

Walk around the complex and behold the eclectic collections ranging from life-sized sharks to gigantic motorcycles. There is a ton to be seen here, and you will definitely want your camera! The admission is free, but there is a small charge to take photos... and trust me, and you are going to want to take pictures.
