The River Walk (also known as the Moon Walk) is about 1.3 miles long. The area was developed as a shopping locale for both tourists and locals.

You'll spend most of the walk right beside the mighty Mississippi River. The proximity to the river will have you feeling a little cooler and less humid than the rest of the city.

There are plenty of areas to stop and sit as the French Quarter River Walk has lots of benches. Watching the boats float down the river makes time go by quickly. There are often many street performers out and about as well.

This isn't a particularly steep walk and it's accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. It's also a great walk for friendly dogs that like being around people.
