To me, it’s always wing season. I love enjoying wings with a cold beer on a hot day and during any and every football game all winter long. In the spring, they’re the perfect take-out food, and in the fall, well, you’ve got to get ready for football season, right? With so many places in the city that make fantastic buffalo wings, you might think you can find the best around somewhere in the Philly, right? Well, guess again. The best wings near Philadelphia are actually a short drive away, in a small town in New Jersey where you’ll need a cowboy hat to fit in.
The Golden Nugget Tavern is located at 433 Berlin New Freedom Rd., Berlin, NJ .
For over 50 years, this has been the place to go for live country entertainment. Even if you're not a country music fan, you'll have a blast with the lively crowd. The tavern has grown from its original 8-seat bar to a full-sized restaurant, which was rebuilt after a fire damaged most of the building in 2011.
Local bands like Eastbound and Down, Goodman Fiske, and Hickstown Road entertain the crowd with originals and rowdy singalongs.
It's more flavorful than traditional buffalo sauce, but not too hot. This is the kind of sauce you could eat by the spoonful. Luckily, they sell it in jars.

Golden Nugget is always at the top of "Best Wings in New Jersey" list, right with the more famous Pic-a-Lilly.
As someone who has eaten at the Nugget and at the Pic more times than I should admit, I'm solidly in the corner of Golden Nugget Tavern. Whether you love boneless nuggets smothered in sauce or crispy, well-done flats and drums, you'll find wing heaven in this dive bar.
So, what are you waiting for? Plan a night out as soon as possible and try the best wings found near Philadelphia.
Pro tip: Wednesday and Thursday are always "all you can eat" Wings and Nuggets for $9.75. from 7 PM - 1 AM.
The Golden Nugget opens at 7 AM with a full breakfast menu (including a perfectly spicy bloody mary) and stays open until 2 AM every night of the week. There’s a pool table (which is free on Wednesday nights), a shuffleboard table, and live music most nights.
