Evenings and weekends often meant one thing for many of us growing up. Slamming the car door after saying goodbye to our parents and heading into our favorite skating rink. We’d skate around the rink, gossip with our friends, and snack. Those of us who were a bit daring would line up for the limbo or try skating backward. Those days may seem like so long ago, but now you can relive a bit of their magic by going roller skating in Pittsburgh at this retro roller rink.
Lace up your roller skates for a skate back to yesteryear at Neville Roller Drome, Inc., an old-school roller skating rink that's popular with skaters of all ages and generations.
Neville Roller Drome has been the place to go for roller skating in Pittsburgh since 1948. In fact, it's Allegheny County's largest skating rink.
No longer have your old roller skates or your favorite tassels? Just head over to the counter and rent a pair of skates. Neville Roller Drome rents both traditional roller skates and roller blades.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, an adult guardian must accompany all skaters between 10 and 17 years old unless the skater is bringing their own roller skates.

If it's been a while since you've last roller skated or if it's your first time, you can also sign up for roller skating lessons before hitting the hardwood.
As of December 2022, beginner roller skating lessons are held Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 12 p.m. The hour-long lessons run for six weeks. After you've had your lesson, you can go on the rink and try out your new skills.
Neville Roller Drome hosts a variety of sessions, so you can find the best one that fits your needs. Bringing the kiddos along? Visit for the family skate sessions. Teen skate sessions, for 10 years and up, are also held each week.
If you're a creative soul, stop by for the weekly artistic skate session. Join other roller skaters as you do the tango and the foxtrot - on roller skates!
When you need a break, stop by the snack bar for a quick bite to eat and a cold drink. Now that we're older, we can have as many slushies as we want.
All roller skaters and onlookers are expected to follow all rink rules, including: You are not allowed to bring food or drink into the rink, to race or to walk on the rink, or to use offensive language. A full list of rules can be viewed on Neville Roller Drome's website (listed below) before you head over for your skating session.
All roller skaters must pay admission. If you're accompanying your child into the skating rink, you must also pay admission. Children two and younger, who will not be skating, are free.
