It’s no big secret that San Francisco is an expensive town. So, wherever you can save a buck is a place we all want (and need) to be. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to find cool and unique items at a bargain price? Plus, going to visit these places is a really fun way to get together with friends or family for a day of shopping. It’s so much more interesting than visiting the mall with the same shops you have seen over and over. Fortunately, there is always something one-of-a-kind to find at these places. There are some pretty awesome weekly and monthly flea markets near San Francisco (including Northern California’s biggest) where you can find some true vintage, one-of-a-kind finds.

The Alameda Point Antiques and Collectible Fair is the spot for vintage gems and antiques; in fact, it's the largest flea market in Northern California (featuring over 800 booths), and is held on the first Sunday of each month. Admission fees: $15 between 6am-7:30am; $10 between 7:30am-9am; $5 between 9am-3pm. A free shuttle is available to and from the Fruitvale Bart Station and the Alameda Ferry.
All merchandise for sale must be at least 20 years old, and includes collectibles, jewelry, art, books, vinyl, ceramics, and clothing. But the best reason to come is for the furniture: You'll find many of the area's top designers scouring through the piles, excavating some fine and funky finds. Bonus: the bay and city views are awesome!

Located in Bernal Heights, this is San Francisco's only weekly flea market and it happens every Sunday from 7am-3pm. The Alemany Flea Market actually requires every booth to have at least 50% antiques and/or vintage merchandise.

Treasure Island Museum, 1 Avenue of the Palms #111, San Francisco, CA 94130, USA

Head across the bay via ferry, bus, or car and make your way to the aptly named Treasure Island, where you may just find some treasure of your own. This monthly flea market occurs the last weekend of each month, Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm; admission is $3.
At Treasure Island Flea, you'll find vintage goods alongside unique, handmade indie designs. The jewelry selection here is especially outstanding—so is the view. Also enjoy live music, a full bar, and specialty foods.

Jack London Square, 472 Water St, Oakland, CA 94607, USA

Jack of All Trades Market

The smaller market located on the waterfront at Jack London Square in Oakland happens every second Saturday of the month. This is a great place for fashion geeks looking for both unique vintage and indie jewelry and apparel (especially if you lean toward boho-chic styles).
The food choices here are also pretty spectacular. Bonus: Admission is free! Jack London Square is a must-see historical landmark in Northern California.

Located next to the Ashby BART station, this flea market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm. Admission is free. Being near the University means you may find some extra cool gems tossed aside by students, including art, books, music, handmade crafts, jewelry, new and used clothing, skin and body lotions and oils, household goods, and more.
Be sure to also enjoy some international eats at the food trucks and bounce along to the beats of the drum circle. This is Berkeley, after all.
