Located at 240 Front Street in San Francisco’s Financial District downtown, Schroeder’s Restaurant was originally founded in 1893.

Their traditional version, which has not changed since the restaurant first opened in 1893, is made with chicken. Pounded until thin it is breaded and deep fried, then laid on a bed of savory sauerkraut and served with their warm potato salad and a side of lingonberry jam. Add anchovies, capers, and a fried egg to make it Holstein-style.
