The World Bird Sanctuary was founded in 1977 by Walter Crawford. His vision was to create a place of care, safety, and rehabilitation for wild birds. Through the years, the World Bird Sanctuary has grown to a 305-acre space and has cared for over 200 species. This is a completely non-profit, community supported haven that works through education and advocacy to protect bird species. It’s also an entertaining and fun place to see and learn about wild birds.

The World Bird Sanctuary only cares for large wild birds and birds of prey. For more information about the organization, volunteer opportunities, and special events, check out their website here.
