St. Louis is a unique city, and unsurprisingly it is home to some unique people. We’re easy to fall in love with, too, thanks to shared traits like friendliness and our signature Midwestern warmth. However, before you go on a date with a St. Louis native, there are a few things you should know:

1. We tend to be incredibly romantic.

In a city that is as beautiful as St. Louis, locals are bound to find beauty everywhere they look. That includes in actions and gestures, which means St. Louis natives really love... well, love.
2. Yeah, we'll have a beer or two.

Coming from a place with such a rich history in brewing, many of us enjoy sampling craft beers and touring breweries. If you're ever looking for a unique date that will delight a St. Louisan, look no further than the nearest brewery.
3. St. Louisans love cornhole.

If you are dating a St. Louis native, cornhole will probably never come up in conversation. It will, however, come up at every family gathering. We've learned to love it, and so will you.
4. We're really not phased by the bizarre.

Maybe it's because we're a little weird ourselves, or maybe it's simply because we're just used to the unusual.
5. St. Louisans love to adventure.

Just look at the diversity within our own city. Growing up in such a high-energy environment with so many attractions inspires in all of us an insatiable thirst for adventure.
6. Our eating habits can be strange.

7. Neither New York nor Chicago-style pizza is our preferred dinner...

For many couples, ordering pizza and spending a lazy night in is a pivotal point in the relationship. There is no longer a need to go somewhere fancy, for you can just enjoy one another's company and relax. However, just be aware that we'll probably have a preference for Provel cheese on every pizza we ever eat. This combination is quite common across all St. Louis cuisine, but we really never get sick of the stuff. Also, thin crust is the best crust.
8. ...but we're always game for a good barbecue.

St. Louis is said to consume more barbecue sauce than any other city in the United States. We love some good barbecue, and we're more than happy to grill up some ribs. Just be warned that when we barbecue, we make enough food to feed an army.
9. St. Louisans are an adaptable people.

In our hometown, the weather changes spontaneously. Coming from an environment like that, one must be adaptable. As a side effect, we're also pretty easy-going.
10. Don't try to make us call it "Panera."

11. We will always feel incredible pride for our hometown.

Yes, we've seen crime statistics, and you really don't have to bring that up. We never said our city was without its flaws, but we truly do love it endlessly.
