I love nothing more than visiting a new restaurant and realizing that the food is made fresh every single time. Let’s face it – you can tell when a restaurant freezes its food and reheats it when a guest sits down. But this isn’t true when visiting El Nopalito Taqueria in Hollywood, Florida. You won’t find any frozen food here – always fresh, traditional ingredients being whipped into truly delicious tacos. For starters, there aren’t too many completely plant-based taquerias in Florida already, which makes this spot a diamond in the rough.

However, it isn’t just its rarity that makes this food haven special - it’s the deliciously authentic Mexican tacos being churned out fresh for every single customer.

This family enterprise was started by Chef Sandra, who wants to leave a lasting legacy for her kids but also hopes to give plant-based eaters and non-plant-based eaters alike a chance to indulge in traditional Mexican cuisine.
The menu here is filled with authentic Mexican options from tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, and more to the ever-popular quesabirria, made with beefy marinated king oyster mushroom.

The tortillas are all handmade fresh, and you can taste that with your very first bite.
For meat eaters - you won’t even miss a thing. The traditional beef, chicken, and steak options are all substituted with the best ingredients, from soy-based Mexican sausage to the chicharron, which was my absolute favorite. Add a squeeze of fresh lime on top - pure chef’s kiss.
