For anyone who’s familiar with Coral Gables, Florida, from simply living in the area, you probably wouldn’t label it as a college town. However, for anyone who knows Coral Gables solely as the home to the University of Miami, you’ll likely be singing a different tune. Personally, growing up in Miami, I’ve seen Coral Gables as a beautiful, vibrant community known for its distinctive Mediterranean Revival architecture, lush landscapes, and upscale lifestyle. AND some great shopping – hello, Merrick Park! But I also know it to be home to one of the best universities in the country. Let’s dive in…
Coral Gables, situated in Miami-Dade County, is a renowned community that offers history, architecture, charm, and fun for everyone who visits.
George Merrick's vision and planning during the early 20th century endowed the city with a distinctive character, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean and Spanish architectural styles.
There are some iconic attractions throughout Coral Gables, from the stunning Venetian Pool, a historic public swimming pool, and a landmark crafted from a former coral rock quarry…
…to the University of Miami, a prominent private research university known for its strong academic offerings and, perhaps more notably, some incredible athletic programs.
For those seeking a little bit of shopping and dining fun, Coral Gables delivers an array of upscale choices. Miracle Mile district is a popular shopping destination with its selection of boutiques, art galleries, and dining establishments. Additionally, the adjacent Village of Merrick Park also offers a lively culinary scene.
Coral Gables is also extremely family-friendly. There are various events and festivals held throughout the year, plus activities that guests of all ages can enjoy.
