If you've never been to Toccoa, it's a town of just under 10,000 that is not far from the border with South Carolina. It's a historic town with a beautiful waterfall, several interesting museums, and a thriving cultural scene.

One of the town's most eagerly-anticipated annual events is the Toccoa Harvest Festival.

The 2023 edition of the festival marks the 46th year it's been held.

The craft market attracts over 150 vendors, with tons of locally-made art and goods for sale.

You can also expect live entertainers and music.

Of course, there's lots of food on-hand, too!

This is a family-friendly festival, and there's plenty on the schedule to entertain the kids, with rides, face painting, rock climbing, entertainment, and more.

This is such a great little fall festival in Toccoa, GA!

This locally-beloved spot is tucked away right beside a gas station, and looks rather unassuming.

Hiding inside is pure deliciousness.

Just one taste and you'll see why there's often a line here each morning.

These are good old-fashioned yeast donuts with a delicious glaze or frosting, baked fresh each day starting at 5:00 a.m.

The plain glazed ones are so airy that they just about melt in your mouth, and you'll enjoy their sugary sweetness even if you typically only prefer chocolate or more exotic flavors.

Marietta Donuts recently opened up a second location in nearby Kennesaw that also serves up some amazing treats.

The only bad thing about the donuts here is that they're so light and fluffy that you'll end up eating more than you planned! (If you can really consider that a negative.)

There are more than 20 family-friendly activities here that kids and adults of all ages can enjoy.

Of course, the highlight is finding that perfect pumpkin to carve!

There's also a jumping pad for the kids, plus other fun activities like bubbles, catch-and-release fishing, and pumpkin bowling.

The petting zoo features a llama, donkey, and more, giving animal-loving kids a great taste of farm life.

You'll find delicious fall treats like mini donuts, plus candy bars, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more available at the farm's Calf-A.

A daytime visit means wagon rides to the pumpkin patch.

The 10-acre sorghum maze is great fun to get lost in.

On Friday and Saturday nights, you can even explore the maze by flashlight!

Georgia Southern has around 22,000 undergraduates enrolled, making it one of the largest universities in Georgia. The main campus is in Statesboro, but there are also satellite locations in Savannah and Hinesville.

Statesboro is the county seat of Bulloch County, located in the southeastern corner of the state about an hour or so north of Savannah. This area was once quite rural, but the city is now home to more than 30,000 residents.

There are a great many things to do in Statesboro, GA, and as with many college towns, a lot of the city's attractions are related to the university.

Feel like a walk in the park? The Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern is for you.

If the weather's not cooperative or you'd just like to remain indoors, the Georgia Southern Museum is a great option.

If you visit in the summertime, a visit to Splash in the Boro is a must.

One unique store in Statesboro is Charlie's Funky Junk Shop. This place is quite hard to pin down: it sells antiques, weird things, and, well, funky junk.

When you start to feel hungry, Gnat's Landing is one of the best restaurants in Statesboro.

If you'd like to finish up your meal with something sweet, it doesn't get much better than a visit to Jonny Boy Cookies.

This time of year, there's simply nothing quite as enticing as escaping to the Georgia mountains. Here in Ellijay, Georgia, that's exactly what you can do!

For starters, you'll need to experience the town's claim to fame: apples. A drive down Route 52, also known as Apple Alley, will reveal a treasure trove of everyone's favorite fall fruit.

Of course, you can't miss the Georgia Apple Festival, which takes place in Ellijay every October.

Looking for pumpkins? You'll find plenty of those, too. Some excellent pumpkin patches near Ellijay include the Red Apple Barn and Burt's Pumpkin Farm.

There's just something so enchanting about spending the fall days outside, enjoying all the finest produce the season has to offer.

And speaking of the great outdoors, no trip to Ellijay is complete without at least one fall foliage hike.

Some of the best outdoor attractions nearby include Amicalola Falls State Park, Springer Mountain, and Carter's Lake.

One thing's for sure: this is one small town in Georgia that you'll quickly fall in love with this time of year. But truly -- there's no wrong time of year to visit Ellijay!

The brilliant shades of gold, scarlet, and orange make this an especially magical hike, but honestly, the overlooks here are pretty spectacular at any time of year.

The entire trail spans 1.5 miles and takes about an hour to make it through.

Most experienced hikers consider it to be on the easy side of moderate, so if you have any experience on the trails, you probably won't have a ton of difficulty here.

It is a little bit rocky in some areas, so watch your step.

There's a lot to see here, even besides the foliage. The trail winds past many of the park's most noteworthy landmarks, including an ancient stone wall and a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) tower.

This is such a magical autumn adventure that's a perfect way to get some exercise while enjoying the area's natural beauty.

Make sure to get out there quickly, though - unfortunately, these colors won't be around forever!

It's so easy to see why Blue Ridge is one of the most popular fall towns in Georgia.

In addition to natural beauty, you'll find fun attractions like Mercier Orchards.

It's also in Blue Ridge that you'll find the charming cabin we're featuring today. It's located right on a trout stream, making it perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful fishing spot.

Even if you don't like fishing, you'll love the water views, especially when the leaves change!

The rustic cabin is very private and has a hot tub, gas grill, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and everything you need for a cozy stay.

The three beds can sleep up to four guests.

The Pond House looks like your typical rural restaurant, with a charming log cabin exterior that looks quite unsuspecting.

Inside, you'll find a cozy atmosphere that's not overly fancy.

It feels more like eating at a friend's house than visiting a fine dining restaurant.

Chances are pretty good your friends don't make steaks this good, though!

All of the steaks here are USDA Choice Black Angus, so they're the absolute highest quality

While the steaks are probably the stars of the show here, you'll also find an array of seafood options on the menu, plus BBQ and sandwiches.

While the food is great and the portions are huge, make sure you save room for dessert!

You wouldn't expect such a great restaurant to be hiding in such a small town, but you can't always judge a book by its cover - or a restaurant by its location!

Roc South opened up in late 2019. It was difficult for even veteran restaurants to survive the pandemic, so it's quite impressive that Roc South thrived through the last few difficult years.

This place offers a great middle ground between a casual eatery and fine dining.

The restaurant specializes in Southern goodies, like fried chicken sandwiches and homemade lemonade.

Of course, you can also expect drool-worthy sides, like collard greens and black-eyed peas cooked with smoked turkey, mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes.

In case everything we just mentioned doesn't sound amazing enough, Roc South also serves seafood.

You can't have a Southern restaurant without grits. Stop by for Sunday brunch and enjoy shrimp and grits, lobster and grits, or fish and grits.

If the weather's cooperative, enjoy a meal on the patio for a nice al fresco dining experience.

Whether you're enjoying lamb and eggs for brunch (pictured below) or blackened salmon Alfredo for dinner, everything on this diverse menu is absolutely delicious.
