Idaho has some truly spectacular campgrounds. From those found in state parks to those that are tucked far, far away, there are some delightful places to spend the night under the stars. However, one of my personal favorites is Buffalo Campground, located in Island Park and just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park. This riverfront campground in Idaho sits right along the banks of the Buffalo River, is shady, and you may even spot some wildlife during your stay — it’s the perfect place for some time outdoors.

Have you ever camped at Buffalo Campground in Island Park? Where are your favorite places to stay in this part of the state? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to check it out. And, if you need more camping and outdoor gear for your camping trip, visit REI.
If you are looking for things to do in Island Park, I have several suggestions. Some of my favorite activities include a float trip from Mack’s Inn Resort, ice cream at The Parlor, and a night at the Yellowstone Playhouse.
