Farragut State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Idaho and it’s no surprise. This incredible park is beautiful no matter where you go and what activities you have on your itinerary. And while there is plenty to see and do, today I want to recommend a hiking trail that takes you on a lovely walk along the water — the Shoreline Picnic Area Trail. This hike in Farragut State Park is easy, the views are gorgeous, and it’s a hidden gem that may just become your new favorite area of the park.
Farragut State Park is located along the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. This park is 4,000 acres and every acre is packed with pure beauty.
While many people come to this state park for time on the water or for camping (this state park has excellent camping opportunities!), a hike should be at the top of your list including the Shoreline Picnic Area Trail.
This is an easy loop trail that is approximately 2 miles. It is quite flat and you will experience very little elevation gain, making it a great option for the entire family.
I would recommend you take your time and enjoy this short and easy trail. With breathtaking views, a well-maintained path, and little incline, it is perfect for a day of exploring with the entire family.
